If you have interest in being on the board, and/or filling/continuing the officer positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, or Treasurer please let election committee head Susan Billings know at suebob30531@yahoo.com. We also need to form two focus pods (aka: committees): one to organize efforts to help home owners in Lumpkin County with their hemlock trees, and one to organize the canoe race on the reservoir. A think tank could also be put together to start the process of evaluating the possibility of making Dahlonega a gateway community for the Appalachian Trail. This think tank would need to speak with/include the ATC, city and county officials, the Sheriff, the Chamber, and interested partner groups. If successful, this would put Dahlonega on the world map and bring much needed support to our local businesses. We need to decide this year's official Hemlockfest colors! When doing this, it is better to look at what is available than just thinking of a color. so, check on line for Gildan, Fruit of the Loom, or Jerzees and see what fallish colors may be cool. I have heard a call for a plum/maroon. I saw an olive that looked neat. The other consideration is being able to match up short sleeve, long sleeve, and hoodie (pull over or full or 1/4 zip).. not necessarily from the same company. Anyway, maybe we should form a focus pod to come up with this as well (to include the designing and printing:-). We can also determine who will take on, or continue their tasks for Hemlockfest preparation.. and discuss any new aspects/considerations to improve on what we do:-) And a reminder about this Saturday's NGCSU Beetle Lab opening, photo shoot, and research update meeting (details below). Don't forget to bring $20 if you can to help support the lab by buying a t-shirt:-) Hope to see you all there! So the hemlocks may live...
