General Information about HemlockFest

Two and a half days of fun with many musicians and entertainers providing over 30 hours of great music; a variety of  foods and beverages;  a great mix of natural crafts vendors;  many interactive presentations and exhibits; a children's nature village with customary night-time campfire amusements (story-telling.)

Environmentally friendly gathering - Please take care of the venue because we would like to continue using it, and because it is the right thing to do.  Nobody wants garbage in their yard!

Recycle bins for plastic, glass, and aluminum are available.  Please use them, or better yet, minimize your throw away materials.

  • No glass please. Festival-goers are asked not to bring glass bottles or other glass items to the festival. Please bring only plastic, metal, or other non-breakable containers.  Glass can cause injury, and the recycle process is very labor-intensive and hazardous.
  • Also, no styrofoam coolers or cups please. Other coolers are cool.
  • Bring your own dishes.  Instead of using throw-away plates, cups, and eating utensils, it would be great if we could cut the litter in half by everyone bringing their own dishes, drink containers, and utensils and just washing them at the wash stations that are conveniently located near the field.
  • New power source. Introducing Treesound Studios with sound systems running on solar and wind power.

Water, soda, and food (in all price ranges) are available for purchase.

Beer and wine are available for purchase with proper ID.  Beer vendor is Terrapin (Friday & Saturday). Wine vendor TBD (Saturday only).

Festival koozies and beverage containers are available for purchase, and we encourage their use.  They cut down on breakage, feel better in hand, and look better over all.

Festival shirts (short- and long-sleeved and sweat shirts), hats, cloth tote bags, travel mugs, beer mugs, beer glasses, wine glasses, water bottles, frisbees, stickers, and other festival merchandise are available for purchase.

Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings only, but there are plenty among the camping areas.

Firewood is available for purchase.  Please -- no lighter fluid and/or gasoline fire-starting.

Fishing poles and rods are allowed.

Dogs are allowed if they are people-friendly and kept on leash.  Problematic pets may be asked to leave.  Please be considerate in regards to waste issues (aka poop); pick-up bags are available, and owners are to pick up after their pets.

Dark out there -- Bring a flashlight, headlamp, or lantern (maybe extra batteries too) if staying past dark.  Most festival lighting is by tiki torch, fire, and the moon.

Could be cold -Bring plenty of warm clothing/blankets.

Could rain - Bring rain gear.

Chairs/other seating - You're welcome to bring along chairs, blankets,  etc. to sit on.

Primitive camping - You must be able to carry your stuff for a distance and not be reliant on a vehicle.  A shuttle is available to get you the quarter mile or so from the parking area to the venue, but shuttling your items to your campsite from there will be your responsibility.

Parking is free and a shuttle is available from the parking lot to the venue.

Some allowance for drive-in and drop-off is made. But all vehicles must be moved from camping area to parking area after gear is dropped off.

Port-a-johns and hand wash stations are provided at restroom service centers.  Only two (heated) showers are available for use.

Pack it in, pack it out - Please be prepared to remove everything that you brought into the camp.

Kids' Nature Village is a place for you and your children to participate in fun and educational activities together or with a guardian, nanny or other adult supervisor attending your child(ren).

Archery and knife throwing Please do not try to participate in these if you have been drinking.  We do not want you to endanger yourselves or others.  If you have a favorite thrower, be sure and bring it along!

Please - no electronic/battery powered equipment that would take away from others' experience (such as radios).

Be smart and behave responsibly so we can all have fun.

Safety personnel security and first aid) are on hand.

After-hours acoustic jamThis is a time for non-percussion music.  Bring your guitars and other stringed instruments and have some fun.  This takes place around a large bonfire at Little Stonehenge, a semi-natural amphitheater on the property, starting around 12:30 a.m. after the last act Friday and Saturday nights.
